Sudbury vs. Windsor
SUDBURY, Ontario (Interstat) — The red-hot Sudbury Five will look to extend their dominance over the slumping Windsor Express when the Basketball Super League rivals meet Friday night at WFCU Centre.
Sudbury (7-1) enters the contest riding a four-game winning streak, which includes two victories over Windsor in the last three weeks. The Five won the most recent matchup 105-97 last Sunday, powered by a season-high 34 points from forward Charlie Marquardt.
Marquardt has been a central figure in the season series, averaging 26.8 points in four games against Windsor. He is coming off a stretch of three consecutive 30-plus-minute performances where he scored 21, 16, and 28 points.
Windsor (5-8) has lost three of its last four, including back-to-back games. The Express will lean on center Billy White, who recorded a double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds in the loss to Sudbury on Feb. 1. White has been a consistent force, posting double-doubles in two of his last five outings.
The season series stands at 2-1 in favor of Sudbury, with all games decided by 10 points or fewer. Windsor’s lone win was a 120-107 home victory on Jan. 10, a game in which Marquardt scored 27 points for the Five.
The Express will need to find an answer for Sudbury’s balanced attack. In Sunday’s win, Allen Billinger added 19 points and Duane Notice dished 7 assists alongside Marquardt’s 34-point outburst.
For Windsor, support for White must come from Cameron Gaines, who scored 20 points in the last meeting, and guard Latin Davis, who had a team-high 24 points.
The game tips off at 7 p.m. EST at WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario. Sudbury travels to face KW the following night, while Windsor hosts Lake Erie on Saturday.
