Diablos Rojos vs. Jal. Astros
GUADALAJARA, Mexico (Interstat) — The Diablos Rojos and Jalisco Astros will complete a five-game series Friday at Unidad Deportiva Avila Camacho, a matchup of teams heading in opposite directions in the Mexican LNBP.
The Astros (25-5), who hold the league’s best record, look to rebound after the Diablos Rojos (18-11) snapped their 10-game winning streak with a 77-66 victory on Thursday. The loss was just the second for Jalisco in its last 17 contests.
Friday’s game is the fifth meeting between the clubs in the last 11 days, with the Astros having won three of the first four. The series has been defined by home-court advantage, with the home team winning each of the last three games. Jalisco won 69-68 in Mexico City on Monday, while the Diablos Rojos returned the favor on the Astros’ floor on Thursday.
Michael Carrera led the Diablos Rojos in the Thursday win, scoring 18 points and grabbing nine rebounds. Gael Bonilla added 14 points. Rigoberto Mendoza was the top performer for the Astros with 17 points and six rebounds.
The Astros had dominated the previous two games, winning 99-80 on Sunday and 98-71 on Tuesday. The Diablos Rojos will aim to build on their recent momentum and secure a series split in the finale before both teams move on to other opponents.
