Aguascalientes vs. Fuerza Regia
SAN PEDRO GARZA GARCIA, Mexico (Interstat) — The surging Panteras of Aguascalientes will look to continue their recent success against the league-leading Fuerza Regia when the Mexican LNBP rivals meet again on Thursday at Gimnasio Nuevo Leon.
Aguascalientes (16-14) snapped a four-game losing streak to Fuerza Regia (19-8) with a 98-88 home victory on Monday. The Panteras’ offense was powered by a trio of strong performances: Erik Thomas scored 20 points with 8 assists, Jaron Martin added 20 points and 8 assists, and Mus Barro chipped in 19 points and 9 rebounds.
That win, however, stands as an outlier in the recent series. Fuerza Regia had dominated the previous six meetings, including a 100-83 victory just a week ago. The home team has won four of the last five contests between the clubs.
Fuerza Regia, which boasts the LNBP’s best record, is led by center Josh Ibarra, who recorded a massive 19-point, 19-rebound double-double in Monday’s loss. Guards Avry Holmes (16 points, 6 assists) and Scott Bamforth (10 points, 8 assists) provide additional firepower.
The matchup pits Aguascalientes’s momentum against Fuerza Regia’s established dominance and home-court advantage. The Panteras will need another balanced scoring effort to overcome a Fuerza Regia squad that is 9-2 in its last 11 games.
