MEXICO CITY (Interstat) — The top two teams in the Mexican LNBP, the Jalisco Astros and Diablos Rojos, will complete a three-game series Monday night after splitting the first two contests in dramatic fashion.

The Astros (24-4), the league’s dominant team, arrive with the best record after handing the Diablos Rojos (17-10) a 99-80 defeat on Sunday. Jalisco’s backcourt was prolific in the win, with Walter Hodge scoring 27 points and Chavaughn Lewis adding 23.

Just two days earlier, the Diablos Rojos eked out an 84-82 victory, proving they can compete with the league leaders. Michael Carrera, who had 19 points and six rebounds in Sunday’s loss, will be a key factor for the home team as they seek to defend their court.

This will be the seventh meeting between the clubs this season, with Jalisco holding a 4-2 advantage in the head-to-head series. The teams will meet again in Guadalajara on Thursday.

Monday’s game tips off at 7:30 p.m. local time.
