Pato Basquete vs. Vasco da Gama

RIO DE JANEIRO (Interstat) — Two teams desperately seeking their first victory of the season will meet Tuesday when Vasco da Gama hosts Pato Basquete in a Novo Basquete Brasil (NBB) matchup at Ginásio São Januário.

Both clubs enter the contest mired in a winless start. The visiting Pato Basquete is 0-4, while the home side Vasco da Gama sits at 0-6.

Pato Basquete is coming off a narrow 71-69 defeat to Cruzeiro on Oct. 29, a game in which Danilo Roberto Marques Penteado led the way with 24 points and eight rebounds. The loss was the team’s third by five points or fewer this season, indicating a pattern of competitive but ultimately unsuccessful outings.

Vasco da Gama, meanwhile, is looking to rebound from a 79-57 road loss to Mogi das Cruzes on Saturday. Elias Oliveira Goulart Conceicao was a bright spot in that defeat, scoring 16 points. The team has struggled to find consistent offense, failing to reach 65 points in four of its six losses.

The matchup presents a critical opportunity for one of these struggling squads to finally break into the win column and gain some early-season momentum. Pato Basquete will look to its core of Penteado, Eduardo Franca Elevi and Tradavis Thompson to secure the road victory, while Vasco da Gama will hope home-court advantage can help snap its skid.
