Flamengo vs. Mogi das Cruzes

MOJI DAS CRUZES, Brazil (Interstat) — Two of the Brazilian NBB’s hottest teams will clash Monday when Mogi das Cruzes hosts Flamengo at Ginasio Municipal Professor Hugo Ramos.

Flamengo (6-2) enters the contest on a five-game winning streak, including a dominant 103-77 road victory over Corinthians on Friday. Guard Alexey Borges led the charge in that win, nearly notching a double-double with 14 points and nine assists.

The Rio de Janeiro-based club has been a powerhouse on both ends of the court, averaging 93.5 points during its current streak while holding opponents to just 77.4 points per game.

Mogi das Cruzes (3-1) has been equally impressive, coming off a 79-57 home win against Vasco da Gama on Saturday. The team’s only loss this season was a narrow 79-71 defeat on the road against a strong Minas squad. At home, Mogi has been dominant, winning its two games by an average margin of 32 points.

The matchup pits Flamengo’s high-octane offense against a stout Mogi das Cruzes defense that has yet to allow more than 79 points in a game this season. The home team will look to continue its strong start and hand Flamengo its first domestic loss since Sept. 21.

Following Monday’s game, Flamengo travels to face Osasco Basquete on Wednesday, while Mogi das Cruzes visits Paraiba on Thursday.
