Xalapa vs. Jal. Astros
GUADALAJARA, Mexico (Interstat) — The surging Jaliscos Astros, owners of the best record in the Mexican LNBP, will host the Xalapa squad on Friday in a showcase of the league’s top team and a club fighting to stay in the playoff picture.
The game is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, at the Unidad Deportiva Avila Camacho.
The Astros (19-1) have been nearly flawless this season, establishing themselves as the team to beat. They are riding a wave of dominance, having last lost a game on Sept. 13. In their most recent outing on Sept. 27, they routed Leon 101-83 behind a powerful offensive display. Chavaughn Lewis led the way with 23 points, while D.J. Cooper dished out 13 assists.
Xalapa (12-9) arrives after a gritty 71-65 road victory over Cancun El Calor on Monday. Fernando Zurbriggen recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in that contest. The team has shown inconsistency, however, alternating wins and losses in its recent stretch.
This matchup begins a critical home-and-home series between the two clubs, as they are scheduled to meet again in Xalapa on Monday, Oct. 13. For the visiting team, the back-to-back games represent a major test against the league’s elite. For the Astros, it’s a chance to further solidify their commanding position in the standings.
