Cancun El Calor vs. Gambusinos

CANCUN, Mexico (Interstat) — Two teams heading in opposite directions will meet Saturday when Cancun El Calor visits Gambusinos in a Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional (LNBP) matchup.

El Calor (6-7) enters the contest on the heels of a dominant 90-60 victory over San Luis Potosi on Sunday. Gerard Devaughn led the way with 20 points and five rebounds, while Max Landis added 22 points and Cat Barber dished out eight assists. The win snapped a two-game skid for Cancun, which has shown flashes of strong play, including a 104-point outburst against Irapuato on Sept. 4.

Conversely, Gambusinos (2-12) is mired in a prolonged slump, having lost its last 10 consecutive games. The team is coming off a 95-85 loss to Correcaminos on Sunday. Despite the losing streak, Gambusinos has shown fight, with five of its losses this season coming in overtime, including a 99-95 OT defeat to Zacatecas on Aug. 9.

The home team will look to its top performers, Byron Allen and Michael Bryson, to break the streak. Allen is coming off a 22-point, five-rebound, five-assist effort, while Bryson scored 25 points in the loss to Correcaminos.

This is the second meeting in as many nights between the two clubs after a scheduled Friday game. Historically, the teams have split their season series in recent years.

Cancun will aim to use its recent offensive momentum to exploit a Gambusinos defense that has struggled, allowing an average of over 92 points per game during its losing streak. For Gambusinos, finding a way to close out a tight game will be paramount to pulling off an upset at home.

Following this contest, El Calor will host Diablos Rojos for a two-game series next weekend. Gambusinos will look ahead to a two-game homestand against Irapuato.

Tip-off is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 20, 2025.
