Correcaminos vs. Diablos Rojos

MEXICO CITY (Interstat) — A pair of Liga Nacional de Baloncesto Profesional teams on the playoff bubble will square off Friday when the Diablos Rojos host the Correcaminos.

The matchup at Gimnasio Juan de la Barrera pits the home team Diablos Rojos (8-6) against the visiting Correcaminos (7-6). Statistical projections heavily favor the home side, with Interstat’s game simulator predicting a 72-57 victory for Diablos Rojos and its ELO system giving them a 93.80% probability to win.

Diablos Rojos enter the contest riding a two-game win streak after sweeping a road series against Aguascalientes. In their most recent outing, a 97-91 victory on Sunday, the backcourt trio of Luciano Gonzalez, Daishon Smith and Dontrell Brite combined for 56 points. The team has been dominant at home this season, with recent lopsided wins over Leon and Fuerza Regia, but has struggled on the road, including two losses to Soles de Mexicali earlier this month.

The Correcaminos also snapped a skid with a home sweep, taking two games from Gambusinos last weekend. They won 95-85 on Sunday behind a 22-point effort from point guard Damien Daniels, with Charles Garcia adding 15 points and Roddy Peters contributing 14. Their season has been marked by inconsistency, particularly away from home, where they have suffered double-digit losses to teams like Aguascalientes and Xalapa.

The two teams will meet again in the capital on Saturday to complete the brief series. Following this set, Correcaminos will travel to face Fuerza Regia, while Diablos Rojos are scheduled for a road series against Cancun El Calor.
