Irapuato vs. San Luis Potosi
SAN LUIS POTOSI, Mexico (Interstat) — The Santos de San Luis Potosi will look to complete a two-game home sweep of the struggling Irapuato when the Mexican LNBP clubs meet again Friday at Auditorio General Miguel Barragan.
The matchup comes just one day after the Santos (4-11) defeated Irapuato (1-14) 87-69 on Thursday. San Luis Potosi’s Jaire Grayer led all scorers with 24 points and added 12 rebounds. Markedric Bell contributed 19 points and six rebounds, while Jermaine Haley chipped in 10 points and four assists.
Irapuato, mired in a deep slump, was led in the loss by Nikita Konstantynovskyi’s 15 points and nine rebounds. Myles Carter added 12 points and three blocks.
The Santos have struggled for consistency but have found recent success against the league’s bottom teams, splitting a two-game series with Correcaminos last week and sweeping their two-game set against Cancun El Calor on Sept. 13-14. Their win Thursday snapped a two-game losing streak.
Irapuato’s season has been defined by defeat, with its lone victory coming on Sept. 9 in a 94-84 home win over Xalapa. The team is currently on a three-game losing streak and has lost 13 of its last 14 contests, often by wide margins.
Despite the lopsided records and recent result, statistical projections for the rematch are conflicting. Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a high-scoring affair with Irapuato winning 102-87. Conversely, the same service’s ELO rating system gives San Luis Potosi a 70.5% probability of victory.
Following Friday’s game, San Luis Potosi will host Dorados for a two-game series next weekend. Irapuato will travel to face Gambusinos.
