Xalapa vs. Dorados
CHIHUAHUA, Mexico (Interstat) — A pivotal matchup in the Mexican LNBP is set for Friday as the Dorados de Chihuahua (9-5) host the Halcones de Xalapa (8-6) at Gimnasio Manuel Bernardo Aguirre.
The game features two teams jockeying for position near the top of the league standings. The home side Dorados enter with a slight edge in the win column, while Xalapa looks to even the season series and climb closer.
Xalapa arrives after a tough 88-86 home loss to Leon on Sunday, a game in which point guard Fernando Zurbriggen posted a strong all-around line of 19 points, eight rebounds and seven assists. The loss snapped a brief two-game win streak for Xalapa, highlighting a pattern of inconsistency. Their recent results include a dominant 23-point win over Leon followed by a two-point loss to the same team just one day later.
The Dorados, meanwhile, are riding high after a commanding 92-66 road victory over Irapuato on Sunday. Power forward Mike Myers led the charge with 16 points and seven rebounds in just 20 minutes of play. The win was part of a successful road trip where Chihuahua won three of its last four games away from home.
Statistical projections offer a conflicting outlook. The Interstat game simulator favors the Dorados in a low-scoring affair, 79-74. However, the same outlet’s ELO rating system gives Xalapa a narrow 54% probability of winning.
This contest is the first of a quick home-and-home set between the clubs, who will meet again in Chihuahua on Saturday.
Tip-off is scheduled for Friday night.
