Irapuato vs. San Luis Potosi

SAN LUIS POTOSI, Mexico (Interstat) — Two of the Mexican LNBP’s most struggling teams will meet Thursday when the San Luis Potosi Santos host Irapuato at Auditorio General Miguel Barragan.

Both clubs enter the contest near the bottom of the league standings. The Santos sit at 3-11, while Irapuato has found victories even more elusive, posting a league-worst 1-13 record.

Despite the similar records, statistical projections for the outcome are split. Interstat’s game simulator forecasts a high-scoring affair with Irapuato winning 102-87. Conversely, its ELO rating system gives San Luis Potosi a 70.5% probability of victory.

Irapuato is mired in a deep slump, having lost 12 of its last 13 games. The team is coming off a pair of decisive home losses to Dorados, including a 92-66 defeat on Sunday. In that game, Nikita Konstantynovskyi recorded a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Harrison Butler led the team in scoring with 21 points. The team’s lone win this season came on Sept. 9, a 94-84 victory over Xalapa.

The Santos have also struggled for consistency, though they managed a road win against Cancun El Calor, 87-74, on Sept. 13. Their most recent outing was a 90-60 loss to the same Cancun team on Sunday. Luismal Ferreiras was a bright spot in that defeat, putting up 16 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Jaire Grayer added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

The game is the first of a brief two-game set between the clubs, who will face each other again at the same venue on Friday.

Irapuato will continue its road trip next weekend with a pair of games against Gambusinos. The Santos will remain at home next weekend for a two-game series against Dorados.
