TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Interstat) — Florida State capitalized on a dominant outing from starter Trey Beard and an early offensive surge to defeat Miami 11-1 in eight innings Friday night at Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium. The Seminoles improved to 38-15 overall and 35-15 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Hurricanes dropped to 35-17 and 35-17 in league play. The game was shortened because of the ACC’s 10-run rule after eight innings. Beard was the top star for Florida State, allowing four hits and one earned run while striking out eight over six innings.
