LONG BEACH, Calif. (Interstat) — A disastrous fifth inning for UC Irvine starter Trevor Hansen propelled Long Beach State to a decisive 10-2 victory in the Big West Conference series opener Friday night at Blair Field. The Dirtbags (9-16, 1-0 Big West) sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the fifth, erupting for seven runs on five hits to turn a 2-1 deficit into an 8-2 lead.
