BERKLEY, Calif. (AP) Don Coleman scored 30 points and Kentucky transfer Marcus Lee added a career-high 21 as Cal gave new coach Wyking Jones his first victory with an 85-82 win over Cal Poly on Sunday.

Coming off a loss to UC Riverside in their opener, the Bears (1-1) never trailed after the first 3 minutes against the Mustangs (0-2), picked to finish last in the Big West Conference.

Kingsley Okoroh scored 15 points for Cal and freshman Justice Sueing had 12. Lee, who played three seasons at Kentucky before returning home to the Bay Area, also had 11 rebounds.

Marcellus Garrick led Cal Poly with 21 points, including four 3-pointers in a span of 4 minutes midway through the second half when the visitors cut their deficit from 19 points to single digits.
